Many website changes! PDF Print E-mail

There have been a lot of behind-the-scenes changes to the website over the weekend and some that you will notice right away on the front-end. Here is a brief list of items things that have been changed/added:

  • Core System upgrade
  • Forum Upgrade -- waiting on some developments for other forum options in the next couple of weeks. I will evaluate our options after reviewing the newest version of our current forum and get feedback from all of you. The current upgrade is mostly bug/security fixes, so there may be less quirky behavior.
  • Event tool installed to replace "Playlists" -- check out the event tool, a handy dandy thing that will allow you to RSVP for a meet/event and help us plan future events. There are also maps for visitors to use. I've pulled in some of the past events, but not all. We are missing information on some of the earlier events.
  • Event Calendar installed that coincides with the event listings.
  • Article rating system in place -- I'll explain this more later.
  • Updated the about us page to reflect our move.
  • And obviously, the layout and template changes.

    •  This is not everything, but some of the bigger stuff that has been fixed up. I expect you may run into a few weird things while we get everything cleaned up. I still have a lot planned and hopefully by next meet, the majority of the work will be done. Important changes currently planned for this week:

    • New newsletter system
    • Implement comment ability for articles Done!
    • Instant Messaging on the site Done!
    • Implement a "discuss this" link for articles that will create/edit a forum post about the article (this should be easy)
    • Donation Tally widget 
    Also, if you had a profile image before in the forums or the "Member List" area and it is missing now, please let me know. I think I may need to retrieve some images from the old site and re-link them. If any other details are missing or something is out of whack, please let me know. Go to "Send Message" under "User Menu" and type my name in the box, or click show users to pick my name from the list and send me a quick message.
